Moss

Moss is my main stockdog and from Kensmuir. He has a lot of eye, style, and power in herding. He loves a challenge and is very natural and biddable. Moss has exceptional talent, and I look forward to progressing with him. Moss has a great temperment and is very easy to live with. Moss adapts very well to different types of sheep, and he never backs down from a confrontation. He loves when the rams challenge him. Moss had some major setbacks (an injury requiring surgery and a bowel obstruction) that caused us to delay training and begin trialing later than expected.

I make an effort to compete at multiple trials per year including some with more difficult sheep like the Bluegrass Classic SDT. We are learning together how to be a team, and he is my right hand man. Even though he is eight years old, he is in excellent shape and not ready to slow down. I hope to get to open before he has to retire, but that is more of a reflection on my learning speed versus Moss's ability. Moss is my first dog I have tried to train beyond farm chores, and so our progress has not always been smooth.

We have placed most notably in 2nd and 3rd at the 2016 Call Your Shots STD in Novice and 4th place in both of our runs in Novice at the 2017 Bluegrass Classic SDT. Moss is now retired from competing and is our main farm dog.
